One of the nation's premier spoken word artists and emcees, an educator, grass-roots organizer, and role model - Ise Lyfe was visiting SFSU on Mar. 30th.

Ise's presentation was "Is Everybody Stupid" and was a critical analysis of how media shapes people's views. He put a comedic twist on serious issues such as drug addiction and Black-on-Black violence, before taking a heavier spin. He referenced people and objects that were familiar to the students, including video games, 50 Cent, malt liquor, and even Disney World, to get students to think about the messages being broadcast over the airwaves and internet. More importantly, he discussed how the students need to empower themselves and be responsible for their own decisions

Ise Lyfe’s presentation was the best presentation I ever heard before. It was powerful and thought provoking, he has inspired many of us to step up and take action. Ise truly speaks from the heart, his ability to share his personal experiences allows him to connect with students.

The "Is Everybody Stupid" lecture was really cool. He gave some very interesting insight as to the many contradictions that we make on our daily life. It seems as though there are an astounding number of aspects of our culture that we overlook that are ridiculous and very contradictory. I had no idea about a lot of these things and I think the way he presented it was very intelligent and very easy to understand. It was one of the best presentation I have ever seen!
