It is our great honor to have Timeless Composers/ Arrangers Series crew here at SF
State University on 22nd Apr. 2010.

Hiphop never came to me as an orchestra form. But the crew made it! This movie series featured many Hiphop artists including J Dilla, Mulatu Astatke and Arthur Verocai. It transformed ghetto rap and DJ music style to a more classic and fancy orchestra style, which then made Hiphop more available to the mass. It is definitely nothing we’ve ever seen before. They are making the history.

When you listen to you music, you can tell the pure emotion the music is trying to tell us, even though you don’t really have to look at the performers. But the performers are well trained and are so dedicated to what they are doing. Isn’t this what Hiphop about? When you hear ganster rap or songs from some artists right now, all you hear is F word or sexism; literally nothing more interesting. And it’s not even right. Now we finally have this like heavenly made music. Hiphop is not dead!

After the show, everyone in the room was deeply moved. They all rose from their seats and gave the crew the biggest applause they deserved. It was also applause for the many performers and composers whose skill were so phenomenal to create such an amazing music for us.
